25 August 2014. Civica, a leader in specialist systems and business process services that help organisations to transform the way they work, announced the release of Spydus 9 Self Service, with Masterton District Library in New Zealand as the first customer to go live.
Spydus Self Service, now core to Spydus 9, builds on Civica's existing self service offering with added functionality including renewals, amendments to reservations and bookings, and viewing of patron details and summary. The Self Service module is part of the focus on supporting library patrons and providing a range of flexible solutions that cover web access, mobile and self service functions.
"Our updated Self Service has been developed in close consultation with key customers," said Library Solutions Managing Director Marc Nolan. "Masterton District Library staff worked closely with our development team to ensure that the final product had all the best features, was user friendly for patrons, and was easy for libraries to commission. We are particularly pleased that the Spydus 9 architecture allows us to rapidly develop and deploy a number of new modules, features and functions that are specifically aimed at expanding usability for library staff and patrons. The new Self Service module is a direct result of our collaboration with customers and the advantages of the Spydus 9 architecture."
"Civica's Self Service enables us to offer our customers a self-service solution that matches and exceeds the services available from third party vendors", said Sandy Green, Library Manager. "The ability to easily commission and customise the software to achieve the look and feel required is also important for libraries like Masterton with limited resources. Furthermore, for us to be involved in creating a high end self-service solution was professionally rewarding for our staff involved and we look forward to being involved with further developments."
The next release of Spydus 9 will include payments, and other key features as requested by customers.
