Feb. 7, 2014 - SALT LAKE CITY -- In the beginning of February 2014, Alexandria customers will notice that their current features may have shifted slightly but are definitely more efficient. Some of these features include: Bulletin Board, Maps, Item Management, Advanced Bookings, and Patron Module Preferences. Alexandria will release software version 6.22.5 to current customers as a release that lays solid groundwork and support for future growth and planned enhancements.
One of the most prominent features enhanced for this release is the Alexandria Bulletin Board. The new Bulletin Board enhancement allows librarians from different sites to communicate with patrons and each other through Alexandria by sending important announcements, news on upcoming events, and any other information that needs to be shared. Multiple boards for different sites are supported. The posts can now be scheduled as well.
Alexandria version 6.22.5 will support integration with MackinVIA, much like the partnerships that Alexandria has with OverDrive and TABvue. The MackinVIA feature includes single sign-on where the Alexandria user does not need to present additional credentials to MackinVIA when using its eBook resources through Alexandria. Upon selection of an eBook title, MackinVIA will check the patron's status before releasing the title. This partnership is one that is sure to grow.
