RefWorks appoints new Chief Executive Officer

BETHESDA, MD, USA (December 29, 2006) – RefWorks, LLC, a leading provider of web-based research management, writing and collaboration service for the academic, government and corporate research communities, today announced the appointment of Earl B. Beutler as their new Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2007.

Mr. Beutler was a co-founder of RefWorks, and has served on the Board of the company since its inception in 2001. He has over 30 years of experience in creating and managing software and information companies. As the co-founder of Research Information Systems (RIS), the first company to produce successful bibliographic management software (Reference Manager) and computer-based current awareness service (Reference Update), he served as its President and Chief Executive Officer from 1982 until 1994. Mr. Beutler also is a founder and active board member of Vision InfoSoft Corporation, MaterialExpress.com, and Scalex Corporation, as well as GraphPad Software, makers of the leading scientific graphics product, Prism.

James P. McGinty, Vice-Chairman of Cambridge Information Group, one of the primary investors in RefWorks LLC, and Chairman of the RefWorks Board commented, "Earl Beutler has been a major driving force in the bibliographic management business.
