The Kuali Foundation is pleased to announce the production launch of Kuali Student Curriculum Management (KSCM) at Boston College. It marks the second production implementation of KSCM 2.0, joining the University of Maryland, which upgraded earlier this summer.
Boston College has already seen the benefits of the new system. "With our implementation of KSCM and its workflow capabilities, we have been able to automate what used to be a manual process for the creation of new courses and the update of existing courses," said Louise Lonabocker, Executive Director, Student Services at Boston College.
Boston College is a Partner in the Kuali Student effort, and as such has benefitted from being a part of the KS Community. "We are thrilled with having Kuali Student Curriculum Management up and working and with how well received it has been on campus. We have truly been impressed by the collaborative nature of the Kuali Student community and how they have supported our implementation. We have seen the value and spirit of ‘community source,' " stated Chief Information Officer Michael Bourque.
KSCM is one piece of an overall strategy to replace and modernize BC's legacy, homegrown, student information system. "Kuali's progressive, innovative system is an ideal solution for us," stated Linda McCarthy, Technology Director, Student & Academic Application Services. "Community source and collaboration has made for an excellent product. We are delighted with this first step in replacing our student system with state-of-the art technology developed by the community."
Kuali Student Curriculum Management 2.0.2 is available to the public at http://www.kuali.org/download. In addition to course and program management features, the module facilitates curricular mapping via learning objectives and allows users to see the relationships among curricular elements. KSCM is one of several solutions under development in the Kuali Student suite. More information on the ongoing work of the project, including the Project Roadmap, can be found at http://www.kuali.org/ks.
