Press Release: Ex Libris [June 27, 2013]

Ex Libris Alma and Primo inspire change at North Dakota State University

Chicago, IL—June 27, 2013. Ex Libris Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that North Dakota State University (NDSU) is in production with the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution and Alma library management solution, which have replaced the library's Millennium ILS and EBSCO LinkSource system.

Following a swift implementation process, NDSU Libraries now enjoy two unified, cloud-based solutions—Primo, for the discovery of all library collections, and Alma, for unified resource management—instead of managing print and electronic resources separately through multiple systems, as in the past.

"The combined implementation of Alma and Primo is a central part of our strategy to reimagine library services," commented NDSU Dean of Libraries Michele Reid. "We appreciate the commitment of the Ex Libris team, the North Dakota University System, and Online Dakota Information Network (ODIN) throughout the project. Alma enables us to realize substantial cost efficiencies and optimize staff resources in day-to-day operations. As a student-focused organization, we are constantly trying to implement innovative solutions to meet our users' needs while also saving money that can be used to fulfill the university's academic goals."

"Complementing our participation in ODIN, Alma creates new opportunities to expand the services we offer both on and off campus. We are excited to collaborate with non-traditional partners in the region as well as members of the broader Alma community."

Dr. Lisa Feldner, ND University System Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Institutional Research, observed: "This implementation of Primo and Alma by NDSU Libraries brings together multiple library collections and resources in a single, powerful, and easy to understand presentation. The new library system will make research more efficient for NDSU students and faculty and significantly improve library services."

Mark Triest, president of Ex Libris North America, remarked: "With the launch of Alma and Primo at NDSU, we are delighted to see the university's libraries transforming the way students, faculty, and staff access information. By leveraging our next-generation platform, NDSU Libraries are poised to make a substantial contribution to improving student outcomes."
