North Bethesda, MD – September 27, 2012 – Students in Carol Hartmann's Introduction to Technical Knowledge course at Wabounsee Community College's Library Technical Assistant Program will begin utilizing LibLime Koha this fall through LibLime's Koha with Class program.
LibLime will provide the class of approximately 20 students with a hosted installation of LibLime Academic Koha 5.0, free of charge. This will allow the students unlimited access and all privileges associated with the staff end of LibLime Academic Koha as well as all OPAC functionality for the duration of the course. With the support for authority control and RDA, Ms. Hartmann will be able to give her students a deep understanding of hands-on copy- cataloging and classification in an integrated library system. Carol Hartmann, Adjunct Instructor at Wabounsee Community College, says "I tried the LibLime Academic Koha demo for public library settings and found the simulation of a web-hosted integrated library system to be an excellent training tool for technical services support staff. LibLime Academic Koha includes all significant data representations for students to understand relationships between them. I think LibLime Academic Koha provides a sustainable model for library organizations with small budgets and limited staff. The LibLime Academic Koha screen displays are simple and intuitive with just enough information provided just in time so that library staff and patrons are not overwhelmed with content or coding they do not need to use."
