Press Release: Lyngsoe Systems [March 26, 2011]

Queens Library awards largest AMH contract to Lyngsoe Systems, Inc.

Queens Library recently awarded Lyngsoe Systems, Inc., the largest single Automated Materials Handling(AMH) contract for libraries in North America.

Queens Library, with the highest circulation of any public library system in the US and over 60 branches, will implement more than 100 Patron return units and sorting systems over the next few years. With public usage expected to increase and staff growth to remain unchanged, the addition of the AMH systems decreases the time it takes an item to return to shelf while allowing library staff to focus on its high-level of customer service.

Lyngsoe's AMH system allows patrons to automatically return items to the library 24/7. Features include an interactive user-friendly interface, multiple languages, return receipts, RFID or barcode identification, and CCTV security. The automatic handling of returns frees up valuable staff-patron interaction time rather than inundating staff with check-in and sorting tasks in the workroom.

"We have been working with Queens Library for several years and currently have two systems that have been in operation for over a year" says Cory McCoy, director Lyngsoe Systems Library Group. "We believe that Queens Library carefully evaluated our competition and made their decision based on the quality, reliability, and level of service we provide."
