VuFind 1.2 Released

Villanova, Pennsylvania - August 1, 2011 - The latest version of the VuFind Open Source discovery software has just been released.

The new release includes several significant enhancements:

  • Support for expanded ILS integration, including holds and renewals. Currently only Voyager and Horizon drivers support these new features, but support for additional systems like Aleph and SirsiDynix Symphony is currently in development.
  • A new mobile theme based on the jQueryMobile framework. This theme is currently labeled "experimental," but the new release offers an opportunity for libraries to test it out and customize it.
  • Advanced search has been made significantly more accurate.
  • Language support has been significantly improved, with new support for Greek and Welsh and full coverage in every previously-supported language except Chinese.

Additionally, several bug fixes and minor improvements have been incorporated.

Questions about the new release or VuFind in general can be directed to Demian Katz, the lead developer of the project at Villanova University.
