WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (May 17, 2011) – Tech Logic has released CircIT 2011, the next generation of the Minnesota-based company's powerful, flexible self check-out software.
Tech Logic created CircIT – a dedicated server system that integrates with a library's automation system for self check-out, circulation, reports, and RFID tag read/write functions – in early 2007. CircIT is the most powerful, flexible, and feature-rich library self check-out system available. CircIT works with most ILS systems, functions simultaneously with RFID and barcodes, does not require proprietary hardware, and offers unlimited HTML customization options for patron screens.
Gary Kirk, Tech Logic's President, said, "Each time we release a new version of CircIT, we try very hard to break new ground. This time, we have developed the most powerful and flexible self check-out system in the world. It provides ground-breaking features and the highest levels of financial transaction safety of any product available. We are extremely proud to release CircIT 2011 to the library community."
Jack Gray, Tech Logic's Software Development Manager, also added, "This release is the first version of CircIT that should not prohibit a library from obtaining PCI compliance. It is just one piece of the PCI compliance puzzle, but an important one that needed to be addressed. CircIT 2011 also includes exciting new features, including greater security, donations from cash payments, and patron survey options."
CircIT 2011 has been greatly enhanced with many features that improve the user experience, ease maintenance, and offer expanded functionality. Among the new features:
- PAYware PC (VeriFone) Integration as Payment Module—A PCI Compliant/PA-DSS validated payment application is now used in CircIT 2011, VeriFone's PAYware PC. CircIT's new integrated payment module deals directly with the library bank for processing.
- Display Enhancement to Financial Reports in CircIT—An improved display of the financial transactions that are occurring in CircIT.
- Donations (Cash)—Libraries have the option of allowing the patrons to donate cash when paying fines to the library.
- Surveys—Libraries are able to ask survey questions with a list of responses and generate reports of the information.
- X-7 Desensitizer Unit—Patrons place their items in the device during the check-out process for automatic desensitizing of the security strip.
- Patron Auto Scan (X-7)—Patrons can use the scanner device in the X-7 unit to scan the patron card and submit that information to the ILS to allow the patron to check out items.
- Data Model Enhancement—CircIT determines an RFID tag's data model. Tag data models are read and prioritized based which data models are encountered most frequently, significantly reducing time and increasing efficiency.
- Patron RFID—RFID antenna can read a patron RFID card and submit information to the ILS.
- L400 Tagsys Reader Availability—Compatible with the Tagsys L-400 reader in CircIT 2011.
"Tech Logic's CircIT 2011 provides a host of dynamic improvements that allow our customers to save time, increase efficiency, and offer new functionality to their patrons," said Heidi Weippert, Tech Logic's Customer Care Manager.
