September 15, 2010 -- Emeryville, CA. Innovative Interfaces has endorsed the recommendations of the Knowledge Base and Related Tools (KBART) Working Group, a joint effort by NISO and the UK Serials Group (UKSG) to improve data quality in the knowledge base supply chain.
Innovative's KBART compliance will be implemented in both WebBridge and WebBridge LR products, providing improved OpenURL linking to full text article content from citations in external KBART-compliant reference databases.
The KBART Working Group objectives include understanding what data is necessary to enable a library's link resolver to function optimally and to develop a universally accepted KBART metadata format for use in the knowledge base supply chain downstream from providers to libraries. The advantage, according to the working group, is that the KBART metadata structure will save publisher time and improve customer relations by providing a standardized way to exchange and update product availability details.
