Lloydminster, AB, July 26th 2010. On May 27th 2010 the exciting news was announced that the request for proposal bid for a full RFID system with the Lloydminster Public Library was awarded to Libramation Inc.
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that Libramation Inc. in conjunction with the Lloydminster Public Library staff has actively began working on the preliminary stages of implementing a full RFID system to the Lloydminster Library.
Ron Gillies, Head Librarian at Lloydminster Public Library said that he "was pleased with the comprehensive response received from Libramation" and stated that he and his staff were "excited to be moving into the actual implementations stage after months of research and planning". According to Gillies major goals for the Lloydminster RFID project are to "reduce the number of times staff has to handle an item, increase the accuracy of how we shelve materials, allow LPL to offer the choice of self-service and to better manage our collections." Staff time will be used to enhance services to groups such as the home-bound and residents of long-term care facilities.
Lloydminster will be phasing in their installation starting with tagging using Libramation Book and Media tags and Libramation’s Kameleon dual corridor entrance security gates. Circulation will be enhanced using two Lib-Chip SCOT Self Check units with Libramation Circulation desks to follow in fall of 2010, as well as check-in and basic sortation using a three bin ACT-Sort by end of the year.
