The System Enhancements Librarians Need, With No Extra Charge

Derby, Derbyshire, 10th March 2010: Soutron Limited, a long established supplier of library automation systems for corporate and special libraries, announces new releases of SoutronSOLO and SoutronGLOBAL deliver even more features and functionality for Serials and Acquisitions, OPAC, Loans, Cataloguing and Reports. And there's more good news for Soutron's Library Management Systems clients:

"Unlike some suppliers, we don't make our clients pay twice for an improved system version" says Graham Partridge, R & D Director at Soutron. "Many of the ideas for enhancements come from our interaction with clients. Their involvement provides a crucial guide to what should be included in system development. So we've no intention of withholding features by putting a price on a new version. That is what we believe our clients pay their maintenance fees for."

Quick and Easy Reservations

Soutron has invested heavily in developing a sophisticated Reservations Management Centre which offers librarians a simple and efficient way to respond to and administer high volumes of requests, reservations and loans.

Tested by librarians whose activity is heavily focused on serving members, the workflows integrate closely with the Catalogue, OPAC, Loans, Enquiry and User modules.

Each request starts with a simple Request Form which requires little effort from a user. All types of requests from within an OPAC are then presented to the librarian in a single form. Requests can be channeled automatically to particular libraries in a network or administered centrally and, with all of the information at his/her fingertips, the librarian can decide how best to service and process each one.

Library users’ benefit from reduced turnaround time and librarians can make the most of stock availability. Soutron's Library Management Systems will be further extended with additional reservation management features to be introduced in 2010.

Multiple OPACs Made Simple

Greater flexibility in the SoutronGLOBAL OPAC module now allows libraries to have more than one OPAC operational at the same time, each with a tailored interface. This feature is especially useful for multi-lingual OPAC sites and for organisations which make specific publications available for Public consumption, separate and distinct from other materials on their catalogue.

Closely Integrated Cataloguing

Cross referencing records and creating multi-volume sets is easier with Cataloguing Articles now more tightly integrated with Serials Management. As issues are received, articles can be identified with specific issues in the Catalogue, then requested and issued through the usual loans functions.

Demanded, Developed and Tested by Librarians For Librarians

"To help clients meet their objectives, we set ourselves a target to release two Library Management Systems upgrades a year. We have maintained this investment in new development even in these difficult economic times. And with new clients every month realising how easily library software can be applied, we have extended our capabilities significantly to meet their needs." says Graham Beastall, Soutron Managing Director.

SoutronSOLO and SoutronGLOBAL Version 3.1 are available immediately.
