Press Release: Ex Libris [October 23, 2008]

The University of Amsterdam and the University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands Choose Aleph from Ex Libris

Jerusalem, Israel – October 23, 2008. Ex Libris Group is pleased to announce that the library of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Media Library of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA)—the University of Applied Sciences—have selected the Aleph integrated library system (ILS) from Ex Libris to replace their LBS systems, expanding the worldwide Aleph community to 2,250 institutions.

Aleph provides academic, research, and national libraries with the efficient, user-friendly tools and workflow support they need to meet the increasing requirements of the industry today and in the future. Customizable components accommodate the requirements of institutions of all types and sizes, from single-branch libraries to the largest of consortia. Installed in scores of countries worldwide, Aleph offers full Unicode support, which enables both public and staff users to interface with the system in their preferred language.

Nol Verhagen, library director of the University of Amsterdam, commented: "I am pleased that we will soon be implementing Aleph as our integrated library system. Aleph, which is used by many other university libraries in the Netherlands, has an excellent track record both locally and worldwide. Its power and flexibility will maximize the efficiency of the library’s internal operations. During the selection process, Ex Libris impressed us as a reliable partner. Once we have completed the implementation of Aleph, we feel that our library will be able to meet the future with confidence."

"Ex Libris is honored to welcome the University of Amsterdam and the University of Applied Sciences to the European Aleph user community," noted Marc Daubach, corporate VP at Ex Libris and general manager Europe. "We are delighted that these distinguished institutions have chosen Aleph to further build on the success of their previously implemented Ex Libris solutions, the SFX link resolver and the MetaLib gateway and metasearch solution. We look forward to continuing our close relationship with both universities in the future."
