Jerusalem, Israel – September 29, 2008. Ex Libris Group is pleased to announce that Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) has selected the MetaLib gateway and metasearch solution to power Portal.periodicos.CAPES—a virtual library of scientific and technological information maintained by the Brazilian federal government to support the country’s higher education system. MetaLib will offer CAPES users a powerful tool for accessing the over 2000 scientific databases that the agency subscribes to.
"MetaLib will enhance our ability to efficiently deliver scientific and technical information to the entire academic and research community in Brazil," Professor Emídio Cantídio de Oliveira Filho, director of CAPES, commented. "Our selection of MetaLib to drive the CAPES periodical portal is a sign of the power, scalability, and flexibility of this solution. The federated searching capabilities that MetaLib will bring to our organization are critical to our ability to improve the productivity and stature of the Brazilian higher education system."
"We are extremely honored that MetaLib has been identified as the solution of choice for the wide-reaching CAPES portal, which supports over 150 Brazilian institutions," remarked Matti Shem Tov, president and CEO of Ex Libris Group. "We are excited to have this opportunity to influence the quality of information delivery to such a large community."
