WEST CHESTER, PA, August 4, 2008 – TDNet Ltd., a leading provider of e-resource access and management solutions, announced today the new version release of its Searcher Analyzer federated search tool. Searcher Analyzer goes beyond ordinary federated searching by providing real-time text analysis, metadata tagging and abstracting. The system connects to external databases as well as to internal repositories, and fully integrates with all ILS and various enterprise portals such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS).
Where most federated search systems can display hundreds and thousands of search results, Searcher Analyzer is the only system that dramatically improves the user’s experience by clustering retrieved items into concepts and displaying only the most relevant results, while also providing the user with newly-revealed relationships among the various groupings.
The new version release continues to meet customer and user expectations by offering the following enhanced functionalities and new features:
More Versatile Post-Search Text Analysis Options. Searcher Analyzer’s patented algorithm-based method for creating on-the-fly subject clustering now offers two additional modes of post-search analysis:
- Grouping items into pre-named clusters according to a user-derived list of topics.
- Applying a specific taxonomy of the user’s preference. For example, the customer can choose to apply the MeSH vocabulary to achieve more focused search results.
"The goal of any federated search platform is to help users to find relevant e-content fast," said Asher Sofrin, CEO, TDNet Ltd. "By continually improving and enhancing our patented subject clustering and post-analysis technology, we move closer to providing the industry with the most effective and accurate search tool."
Improved Administrator Features. The new version of Searcher Analyzer also provides a number of new Administrator features including the ability to easily edit or delete a user at the single-site, multi-site, group or consortium levels. In addition, administrators can now approve or reject an online registration, add a resource from a pre-defined set of resources or remove a resource from the user’s searchable set.
