White Bear Lake, MN – February 14, 2008 – A small, portable, and inexpensive device offers huge performance benefits for libraries that want to convert from barcodes to RFID tags, or use a convenient staff check-in station.
Tech Logic has formed a partnership with Intelletto Technologies to sell Intelletto’s Multiport Companion RFID programming and staff check-in station. With this new partnership, Tech Logic holds exclusive distribution rights to the library market in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
The Multiport is the most portable, convenient, and cost effective way for libraries to convert from barcodes to RFID tags. The station is small, lightweight, and portable. Because its "intelligence" resides in the station itself, no dedicated PC is required.
To use the Multiport, the library staff member places a tag on the built-in reader, scans the item’s barcode with an attached barcode scanner, and the reader instantly encodes the barcode onto the tag. The Multiport also provides a visual verification indicating successful tag encoding. Libraries can optionally attach a computer for onscreen verification.
The station is completely interoperable and functions with all major vendors’ RFID tags and with any other tags that use ISO compliant open encoding format.
Libraries can also use the Multiport as a convenient staff check-in station by attaching it to an ILS client station. As items are placed on the reader, they are checked in through the ILS interface. Thus, staff can avoid having to switch from the self-check interface to the ILS interface for exceptions.
R40: Ultimate in Convenience and Productivity for Book Wholesalers
Tech Logic is working with Intelletto to offer its new release of the Multiport Companion, the R40, to the library market. The R40 is intended to do away with interoperability issues between different RFID suppliers. Capable of reading and encoding ISO15693 and ISO18000-3 tags, regardless of vendor, the R40 distinguishes between tags automatically. It will be perfect for book wholesalers, who tag new materials for libraries as part of their shelf-ready services. The R40 will enable the wholesaler to implement a unified RFID tagging workflow and avoid having to use a different RFID tagging station for each RFID vendor. This will dramatically increase the wholesaler’s productivity, and eliminate encoding and tagging errors.
Tech Logic Executive Director Gary Kirk commented on the partnership, "Intelletto has developed an outstanding and unique product that has potential to be far reaching and help both the library and book wholesale markets overcome the technical hurdles preventing them from achieving their RFID goals. We are excited that Tech Logic has the opportunity to provide the Intelletto Multiport to the library community."
Hassanali Namazi, Intelletto’s Chief Executive Officer, commented: "We are very excited to have Tech Logic as our partner in the vertical library market. Tech Logic's prominence and years of experience providing both barcode and RFID-based automated material handling solutions to the greatest number of customers in the library market, coupled with Intelletto's proven capability in RFID product development, will enable this partnership to address existing and future needs and potentials of this very large and mostly untapped market."
