WebFeat partners with Quova to offer geolocation Authentication for the industry's leading federated search solution

Old Brookville, NY, January 14, 2008— WebFeat announced today that it has partnered with Quova, Inc. to provide geolocation authentication for WebFeat's industry leading federated search solutions. Libraries integrating the Quova technology with their WebFeat federated search systems can now provide instant access to subscription content without prompting patrons for authentication or library card barcodes.

HSLC/Access PA and the POWER Library will be the country's first WebFeat system to securely authenticate remote patrons using the Quova system. Test implementation of this new authentication system will begin in the next few months with rollout as the test period is completed. The Access PA and POWER Library programs facilitate resource sharing among more than 3000 school, public, academic and special libraries throughout Pennsylvania, with the support of the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Quova is the authority on IP Intelligence and the leading provider of Internet geolocation data and services. The Quova GeoPoint service establishes a patron's eligibility to access library resources based on that user's location within a specific geographic domain. Only when a patron is determined to be outside of the domain is a traditional library card, bar code or other form of patron authentication required to verify patron credentials.

"Integrating Quova technology with WebFeat is a natural fit with our product strengths," commented Todd Miller, President of WebFeat. "WebFeat Enterprise is the leading federated search solution for library consortia and statewide multi-library networks which is where we see the most potential for the adoption of location-based authentication."

"We are constantly looking for ways to make the discovery of valuable subscription resources as seamless as possible for our Access PA and POWER Library customers," said Joe Scorza, Executive Director of HSLC/Access PA. "The WebFeat and Quova partnership provides us with a sophisticated method to encourage use and remove barriers, while continuing to spotlight our participating libraries as vital partners in that effort."

WebFeat currently provides federated search solutions to more than 17 statewide library networks accommodating dozens of patron authentication schemes.. Some of WebFeat's statewide library consortia clients include Access Pennsylvania, Galileo (the Georgia Virtual Library), the New York State Library/NOVEL, NC LIVE, the State Library of Louisiana, Arizona State Library and Archives, INCOLSA (Indiana's Online Library) and Utah's Pioneer network.
