August 2, 2007 -- Emeryville, CA. Stark Libraries Information Consortium has selected an array of Innovative products to dramatically improve managing, sharing, and presenting information and services on the Web. Comprised of the Stark County Library, Massillon Public Library, and Louisville Public Library, the Consortium will install the new Encore discovery services platform and the Millennium integrated library system. The Consortium will also participate in SearchOhio, a Web-based service that brings together statewide library content in a single portal for the communities they serve. SearchOhio is driven by Innovative's INN-Reach direct consortial borrowing solution.
"Our staff, joined by the staff of Massillon and Louisville, completed a very extensive analysis of the available ILS systems and they felt that the functionality of all the Millennium modules was significantly better for automating our libraries," says Kent Oliver, Executive Director of the Stark County District Library. "As for Encore, we like the idea that it reflects how people are currently accessing information on the Web and how they think about and look for information. We serve a dynamic and diverse community and we are working hard to serve them—Innovative we feel will help us get there."
Innovative technology will also facilitate the Consortium's new participation in SearchOhio, a service that currently makes any of over 7 million public library items available to the participating libraries in Ohio. "Since its launch, SearchOhio has been a huge success. SearchOhio geometrically increases the opportunities for people to find material that will be valuable to them," says Oliver. SearchOhio allows library users to make Web requests for books and media like CDs and DVDs and receive them within two to three days—at a fraction of the cost of traditional interlibrary-loan services.
The Consortium is migrating from a Dynix Classic system.
