Syracuse, NY, January 19, 2007– Polaris Library Systems, a leading provider of library automation technology, announced today that 51 libraries selected the Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS) in 2006. The growth in ILS customers represents a 24% increase from the prior year.
"We are finding that libraries are looking for an ILS partner who can respond to the unique needs of their communities," said David Bendekovic, Polaris vice president, sales and marketing. "Our focus on a single ILS platform and commitment to the goals and visions of our customer base were paramount to our success in 2006."
In addition to annual growth in ILS customers, sales of complementary products including Polaris Inventory Manager and ExpressCheck, grew by 50%. And a continued focus on offering partnerships with providers such as E.vanced Solutions and EnvisionWare has enabled Polaris to offer customers a full suite of solutions that meet the needs of their libraries and their communities.
Bendekovic also states that product enhancements to the planned release of Polaris ILS Version 3.3 will benefit both new and existing customers in 2007. "Version 3.3 offers a number of new features including the use of AJAX technology, ‘Did you mean?' functionality in the PAC and the ability to accept credit card payments for fines and fees. These types of system-wide enhancements are designed to make life easier for patrons and librarians alike," says Bendekovic.
