Emeryville, CA—Innovative announced today that the Jefferson County Public Library (CO), Miami University (OH), University of Western Ontario (Canada), and Wright State University (OH) have joined with the company as development partners for Encore, the new library services platform that unites content, community and discovery. With the addition of these four public and academic libraries, the total number of development partners expands to eighteen.
Encore development is currently focused on features such as faceted search results, tag cloud display, federated-search integration, and Popular Choices representing items of particular interest related to a search. The role of the "second wave" development partner is to react to and refine the current feature set under development and work with the rest of the team to identify candidate features and functionality for subsequent release phases.
"The enthusiasm for Encore in the library community and willingness to join with Innovative to develop it are truly remarkable," says Encore product manager Dinah Sanders. "This is a special development partnership for several reasons--the nature of Encore as a model of the next stage of library search and discovery, the number of development partners, and how partners are iterating earlier and more frequently with Innovative in the development process than ever before."
The second wave partners will join the fourteen current partners including Binghamton University [SUNY] (NY), Deakin University (Australia), Deschutes Public Library (OR), Georgetown University (DC), Michigan State University, Nashville Public Library (TN), Scottsdale Public Library System (AZ), Springfield-Greene County Library (MO), the Tri-College Library Consortium (PA), University of Glasgow (Scotland), University of Kentucky, University of Queensland Library (Australia), Westerville Public Library (OH), and Yale University's Lillian Goldman Law Library (CT).
