Press Release: Ex Libris [December 07, 2006]

Dottrina Giuridica, Leading Italian Legal Database, expands international coverage of Ex Libris MetaLib metasearch system

Jerusalem, Israel. December 7, 2006 -- Ex Libris and the Institute of Legal Information Theory and Techniques (ITTIG), belonging to the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy, are pleased to announce the integration of Dottrina Giuridica (DoGi), a database of Italian law journal abstracts, in the Ex Libris MetaLib metasearch application. To support this integration, ITTIG-CNR and Ex Libris collaborated in the development of the DoGi XML gateway, which employs the Search/Retrieve via URL (SRU) protocol. Through the MetaLib unified search interface, researchers can use the XML gateway to search the DoGi database while simultaneously searching other databases.

MetaLib is the first metasearch application to provide access to DoGi. The addition of the DoGi database represents an important contribution to the international coverage of the MetaLib knowledge base.

About the Dottrina Giuridica Database

The Dottrina Giuridica (DoGi) database is a primary source for research in Italian legal literature. Created in 1970, DoGi includes over 280,000 abstracts of articles from 250 of the most important Italian legal periodicals and law reviews. DoGi's goal is to provide scholars and professionals in Italy with comprehensive and updated legal information.

For more information on DoGi, see http://nir.ittig.cnr.it/dogiswish/Index.htm. The English version is at http://www.ittig.cnr.it/dogi-e.
