Emeryville, CA—UHI Millennium Institute (Scotland) has selected Innovative's Millennium integrated library technology platform and Electronic Resource Management as part of an overall strategy to serve students with the best technology available. These products—along with WebBridge, Research Pro, and Encore—will provide users of the UHI Millennium Institute Academic Partner libraries with a single point-of-search for print and electronic resources such as subscription databases.

UHI's substantial investment in technology and facilities mean that many people living in remote locations no longer need to move to urban areas to participate in university-level study. "For UHI's distributed and dispersed mode of operations, our major systems must interoperate effortlessly as well as keep up with the latest technological developments, such as Single Sign-on, External Patron Verification and thin-client access," says Gillian Anderson, UHI Millennium Institute Librarian. "Innovative has proven technological merit and standards that respond fully to these requirements."

Millennium with WebBridge and Research Pro

The Millennium integrated library technology platform will provide a complete set of tools to streamline library management and provide the best patron experience possible. Gillian says: "We want to be able to meet the information needs of the UHI community with confidence, providing easy yet sophisticated, flexible and customizable access to rich content, both print and digital. With Innovative's integrated library technology platform and the fully integrated digital library solution components of Research Pro and WebBridge, I am confident that we will be providing the right solution to the UHI community." Innovative's WebBridge will help library users to easily link to relevant e-journals and websites from the library's online catalog. With Research Pro, students and faculty will be able to search multiple databases at once—a process made easier through the product's use of AJAX technology.

Encore

UHI has also selected Encore, Innovative's discovery services platform that offers faceted search results for quick assessment of library holdings and navigation to desirable content, community features such as the Patron Ratings and tagging, and Popular Choices for suggestions of library content based on patron-usage data. "I am particularly excited about Encore," says Gillian. "With users who have no physical access to a librarian to focus them, the more integrated a solution we can provide, the better."
