Press Release: Ex Libris [July 12, 2006]

The Deutsches Bucharchiv migrates to ALEPH 500

St. Gallen, Switzerland - 12 July, 2006. Ex Libris (Germany) is pleased to announce that the German Book Depository--Deutsches Bucharchiv--has chosen ALEPH 500 to replace its existing Allegro library software system. The Deutsches Bucharchiv's migration to the modern, integrated ALEPH 500 library management system will follow the Depository's move from Munich to St. Gallen this fall.

"Thanks to ALEPH 500, the Deutsches Bucharchiv will now be able to display its catalog online and offer vastly expanded and improved services to its library patrons," says Jürgen Küssow, Senior Sales Consultant at Ex Libris. "The Depository will benefit from the solid experience of the Vadiana Cantonal library and the St. Gallen library consortium, longtime users of ALEPH 500, with which the institution has partnered on this project."

About the Deutsches Bucharchiv

Created in 1947 by Ludwig Depp, the Deutsches Bucharchiv for books and magazines serves a large research and user community of bibliophiles, authors, editors, book-sellers, printers, information and documentation providers of various kinds, and literary figures. The materials found in the repository are often used in the press, film, theater, radio, and for television scenes.

The Depository's collections, which occupy some 1200 meters of shelf, will be moved from their current location in Munich and integrated into the Vadiana Cantonal Library at St. Gallen in September, 2006. The St. Gallen Center for Books foundation for the promotion, research, and teaching of bibliophilic sciences--including their cultural, social, and esthetic aspects?has been established by the Canton and University of St. Gallen, together with the Deutsches Bucharchiv to support this move.
