SirsiDynix SuperConference Draws Customers from Around the World

NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 8, 2006 - SirsiDynix, the global leader in strategic technology solutions for libraries, along with two SirsiDynix users' groups, announced today the conclusion of the SirsiDynix SuperConference 2006 in Nashville. More than 1,000 SirsiDynix users, library executives and technology partners from around the world came together at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort. Attendees represented 13 countries and 44 U.S. states. Beginning on Sunday, March 5, the SuperConference was a two-part event, with a users' conference for hands-on users of SirsiDynix products and an executive conference for library leaders. More than 30 companies participated in a two-day SuperConference Technology Partner Exhibition, which featured a wide range of industry-leading SirsiDynix and third-party solutions.

"The SirsiDynix SuperConference is one of my favorite events to attend each year," said Patrick Sommers, SirsiDynix chief executive officer. "It's an excellent opportunity to visit with valued customers and friends, as well as to hear the tremendous success stories of how library organizations are using technology to benefit others. Libraries today are impacting their communities in new and significant ways, and it's exciting to see them come together to share with each other what they're learning to bring knowledge in all its forms to real people to meet real needs."

Nearly 200 library leaders attended the executive conference to discuss the topic of "Engaging Our Communities." Presenters and their topics included Lee Rainie, director of the Pew Internet and American Life Project, who spoke about the impact of the Internet and related technologies on the way people interact; Mary Lee Kennedy, founder of The Kennedy Group and director of the Harvard Business School Library, who spoke on the SirsiDynix Personas Project; Alane Wilson, OCLC senior library market consultant, who spoke about key issues facing academic library communities. SirsiDynix's Stephen Abram, vice president of innovation, and Bob Molyneux, chief statistician, also spoke on major projects to develop a North American database of library user measures and user profiles.

The users' conference included more than 100 informative sessions presented by representatives of the two sponsoring users' groups (Unicorn Users' Group International and Data Research Users' Group) and SirsiDynix product experts. Opening the users' conference on Monday morning, Sommers provided a corporate update, followed by presentations on the latest product updates and entirely new technologies from SirsiDynix. Other presenters included Rachel Singer Gordon, author of "The Accidental Systems Librarian," who presented a look into the accidental nature of many systems and strategies for success; and Pat Wagner, co-owner of Pattern Research, Inc., who spoke on improving the workplace through conflict management.

Next year, SirsiDynix SuperConference 2007 will be held at the Broadmoor Hotel and Convention Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., Feb. 18-21. For more information, see www.superconference.info.
