Ex Libris is pleased to be the first vendor to open up the ISI Web of Knowledge platform via their new search configuration within MetaLib's Central KnowledgeBase. Mutual customers of both Ex Libris and Thomson Scientific will now be able to conduct a MetaSearch on the ISI Web of Knowledge platform from within their library's portal. Thomson expects over 100,000 users daily to benefit from the XML gateway.
Reynold Guida, Director of Product Development for Thomson Scientific, stated, "Academic institutions are usually the first point of contact for most scholars and by enabling access to the ISI Web of Knowledge Platform as an additional channel, we expect to provide users with a whole new search experience." Mr. Guida added, "We have enjoyed a positive history of collaborating with Ex Libris to help meet the changing needs of our mutual customers and we are both committed to providing patrons with the most comprehensive and robust tools to enable their research."
Chris Roberts, Ex Libris' Product Manager for MetaLib KnowledgeBase said, "We are delighted to be the first MetaSearch provider to offer users the ability to search Thomson Scientific's Web Services. By collaborating on the development of the XML gateway and adding this new configuration to MetaLib's KnowledgeBase, both Ex Libris and Thomson customers can now download and search on Web of Science and other databases within the Web of Knowledge platform, which delivers significant value to our mutual customers."
MetaLib is presently installed in 485 customer sites world-wide.
