Birmingham -- 23rd June 2005. Talis, the leading provider of library management solutions for the UK and Ireland, has welcomed self-service solution provider, Intellident, to its partnership programme, known as Talis Additions. The companies are joining forces to deliver the latest in ‘smart label' RFID library solutions. Building on the strength of the Talis suite of library management software solutions and the range of RFID self-service products offered by Intellident, the collaboration provides a combined solution that will help both public and academic libraries to offer their users cutting-edge self-service options.
Sarah Bartlett, Product Manager for Talis, said: “Through this partnership, Talis is expanding its offering in order to provide greater choice to our customers. We can now offer a unique and totally integrated solution that will make the streamlined self-service processes of an RFID-enabled library a reality for Talis customers.”
Darren Ratcliffe, Libraries Divisional Manager at Intellident said: “Intellident and Talis are ideally suited to deliver sophisticated self-service solutions to the UK library market. Combining the powerful capabilities of the Talis back-end software solutions with our own market-leading RFID self-service products will enable us to offer our customers significant benefits and enhanced features.”
Talis and Intellident have already worked together to develop and implement an RFID solution for the Barbican Library site of the Corporation of London. The first phase was to install Intellident's RFID-enabled Self-Service Stations. These are now live at Barbican Library. The second phase, which is ongoing, is to install Return Chutes in order to streamline the self-return process.
Libraries stand to enjoy many benefits from the implementation of RFID. The end-user experience of self-service facilities in the library will be further enhanced, and processes throughout the library will be streamlined – significant efficiencies can be gained in areas such as stocktaking.
In signing this agreement, Intellident has also become a member of the Talis Developer Network, through which partners and customers exchange technical expertise and begin the process of creating standards-based interfaces required for integrating products. Talis will also liaise closely with Intellident to ensure that the two companies are pursuing complementary product strategies.
