Userful receives Sirsi SIP2 certification

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. MAY 17, 2005 Sirsi Corporation announced today that the DiscoverStation software solution from Userful is now SIP2-certified for the Sirsi Unicorn Library Management System and the DRA Classic System. With a turnkey suite of management software that works seamlessly with Unicorn, libraries can ensure easy, reliable, and cost-efficient public computing. Libraries using DiscoverStation report an average TCO savings of 50% over traditional computing systems. These savings are created by DiscoverStation's ability to turn one computer into ten, its complete software solution, and its comprehensive support package, which generates IT staff time savings as high as 80%.

Daniel Griffin, Userful's VP Library Services said, "Libraries around the world are searching for a better way to do public computing. Traditional approaches are time consuming, expensive and all too often lead to less than satisfactory results. DiscoverStation has a strong track record of lowering libraries' costs and saving staff time while improving patron services. We're excited about partnering with Sirsi to ensure its libraries have access to an integrated public computing system that functions seamlessly with both Unicorn and Classic."

The Sirsi SIP2 Certification Program, an original certification program for the standard interchange protocol, version 2 (SIP2), enables third-party vendors to ensure that their SIP2-compliant products integrate seamlessly with Sirsi systems. Once a third-party product is Sirsi SIP2-Certified, Sirsi users will know that they can take advantage of best-of-breed, SIP2-compliant products in their Sirsi environment. In addition to vendors that are taking part in Sirsi's SIP2 Certification Program, Sirsi has a range of Sirsi Technology Partners who also provide SIP2-compliant products that integrate with Sirsi systems.
