Blacksburg, VA - VTRAX, a division of VTLS Inc., is pleased to announce today that the Université catholique de Louvain - (UCL) has selected the FASTRAC RFID system to be implemented throughout the Medical Sciences Library.
Founded in 1425, the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL) is one of the world's oldest universities. UCL comprises a large international community: 20,000 students of 120 different nationalities, a staff of 5,000 professors, researchers, and collaborators, 200 research units, and 130,000 alumni all over the world. The UCL is a comprehensive university, educating one out of two academics in French-speaking Belgium, in all fields.
The FASTRAC system will enable the UCL Medical Sciences Library to provide enhanced circulation services to students and staff alike. These services include such tasks as multiple-item processing for checkout, check-in, renewal functions, and potentially even a patron self-check out. At the same time, FASTRAC provides for rapid, uninterrupted security for all library materials. Collection management is faster and more accurate and library staff spend less time with repetitive, clerical tasks.
"I am very excited about the implementation of the FASTRAC system," said Ghislaine Declève, Director of the UCL Medical Sciences Library. "We felt that the FASTRAC system was very advanced, and we are looking forward to maximizing the service benefits FASTRAC brings to all aspects of our library."
