WebFeat enters strategic partnership with Serials Solutions

Old Brookville, NY, January 13, 2005 — WebFeat, the original federated search engine, used by over 1,500 leading academic, public, and special libraries, announced today that it will provide Serials Solutions with translator technology for Central Search—Serials Solutions' powerful, feature-rich federated search product. Central Search allows patrons to search disparate digital resources from a single, easy-to-use interface.

Central Search supports multiple database formats, including Z39.50 databases, XML gateways, HTTP connections and proprietary databases. WebFeat's vast translator library of over 3,600 databases enables Serials Solutions' client libraries to include virtually any database in their federated search solution. WebFeat now offers the ability to enrich federated search citations with links to Serial Solutions' comprehensive OpenURL link resolver. By combining WebFeat's industry leading technology with Serials Solutions' robust results handling, Central Search dramatically reduces the time required to search multiple resources.

Todd Miller, President of WebFeat, commented: “This partnership teams the leader in federated searching with the leader in e-journal access services. This is a natural fit for these two excellent companies and product lines."

Steve McCracken, Vice President of Serials Solutions, noted, “We are excited to have access to WebFeat translator technology. Including this in our suite of services enhances our ability to deliver the most comprehensive access and management services.”
