INWOOD, WV, January 11, 2005 – The Library Corporation (TLC) has partnered with Leapfrog Software, Inc. to offer Reclaim It -- the fastest operating system and applications recovery software available – to libraries.
Reclaim It is an instant system recovery program. It utilizes a system image (“snapshot”) to offer fail-safe recovery from operating system corruption, faulty drivers, virus attacks, or failed upgrades. It addresses a critical factor in operating system management – software failures occur six times more frequently than hardware failures. When an operating system file is corrupted, library staff, patrons, and library support personnel suffer. Normally, library productivity stops while staff members try to recover the system – a rebuilding process that can take up to a day or more.
Reclaim It is the only system recovery product on the market that offers instantaneous system recovery.
Libraries can use it on public and staff workstations. Unlike many other recovery systems, Reclaim It can function from a server to offer complete network system protection. Libraries can even use Reclaim It to reboot public stations back to their original state after tampering by a patron or for any other imaginable scenario. Staff members can also use it to interchange various system images as desired.
Reclaim It users can configure the product to periodically (and transparently) take snapshots of the current state of the library's system and applications software. Following a system crash, library staff can use the most recent and uncorrupted snapshot to reboot and instantly rebuild the system. Reclaim It stores up to ten “point in time” snapshots, so users can choose which snapshot they want to use.
Unlike other recovery systems, Reclaim It maintains pristine snapshots forever, and takes system snapshots without library staff having to reboot. Reclaim It includes Data Anchoring, for setup of any file or folder to survive a “recover.” Or the library can choose to automatically revert the system back to its “clean state” every time it is booted.
Commented TLC Vice President Gary Kirk: “We're thrilled to offer our library customers a technology that is fast, powerful, and easy to use. Its uses for libraries are unlimited and its system recovery speed is a boon to the busy librarian or IT professional who doesn't want to put time – or precious library funds – into system recovery.”
According to Bob Altieri, CEO and co-founder of Leapfrog Software, Inc: “We are very excited about our new partnership with TLC because of their 30 years of experience in providing cutting-edge software solutions to libraries worldwide. Their resources, infrastructure, and commitment are outstanding in this market segment and we expect to gain considerable market share from this relationship.”
