Museum Library of the Minneapolis Institute of the Arts selects Voyager ILS

DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, Sept. 22, 2004: Endeavor Information Systems announced today the Art Research and Reference Library of The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Minneapolis, selected the Voyager integrated library management system to provide access to a diverse collection of materials supporting the research and reference needs of the Institute's visitors.

The library's collection, which numbers approximately 55,000 volumes, consists of important art historical material such as reference books, electronic research subscription services, monographs, catalogue raisonnés, museum collection/exhibition catalogues, periodicals, and object files on works of art from the museum's permanent collection, as well as the region's premiere collection of auction sales catalogues from Christie's and Sotheby's.

Free and open to the public, the Institute's library serves its museum staff, including the Curatorial and Education Divisions, museum members, students, visiting scholars, art historians, art/antique dealers and collectors, the general public, museum guides and other museum volunteers.

“The system's ability to simultaneously search multiple library catalogs and subscription services made Voyager particularly attractive,” said the Institute's Head Librarian Janice Lurie. “It also operates in an intuitive fashion so that it's easy for patrons to find information.”

“Nearly 50 museum and archive libraries have selected the Voyager system due to Endeavor's strong reputation for providing tailored implementation services and user-focused library technology systems. Endeavor's library-focused relationships are key for the implementation and continued support of the individual needs of these research facilities that have special requirements due to their broad user community and their very unique holdings,” said Roland Dietz, Endeavor President and CEO. “Endeavor is proud to work with the Institute's library at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts—we enjoy partnering with unique libraries to provide the optimal online library research environment for the important inquiries that are a daily part of their environments.”
