Taipei Public Library chooses Sirsi

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—July 6, 2004—Sirsi Corporation, celebrating 25 years of delivering technology “firsts” to the library community, announced today that the Taipei Public Library, Taipei, Taiwan, is leaving Urica for Sirsi's superior technology and design. “Sirsi is an incredibly innovative product and provides remarkable access and flexibility for staff and for library patrons,” said Dr. Tseng, Taipei Public Library director. “As the largest library system in Taiwan, it is critical that the library utilizes the best in library technology so that we may best fulfill our vision of providing the best in library service and the best in easy access to resources.”

Taipei's suite of Sirsi products and services includes the Unicorn® Library Management System with Unicode, WorkFlows® staff interface, and iBistro e-Library solution. “The mission of the library is to provide multiple, specialized, informational, and personalized library and information services including the promotion of social education, recreation, cultural heritage, and life-long learning,” said Tseng. “In addition, the library seeks to enhance community network services, and establish a digitalized, network-based information society. We know Sirsi's technology, expertise, and commitment will enable us to forward our mission.”
