The Czech Technical University Opts for ALEPH 500

Ex Libris Ltd. is pleased to announce that the Czech Technical University has chosen ALEPH 500 to replace its existing library system. Fully automated since the beginning of the 1990s, the Czech Technical University libraries have been supported by a system developed in conjunction with CTU staff. “Following a thorough process for selecting a new library system, we have chosen ALEPH 500 as it is the most appropriate for our needs,” explains Barbora Ramajzlová from the Department of Libraries at the CTU Computing and Information Centre. “We believe that ALEPH 500 is the right choice for the Czech Technical University libraries. This system fulfils both present and future information technology and library requirements, which will result in an improvement in the quality of service the libraries will provide,” adds Ms. Ramajzlová. System implementation will commence in the very near future and full operation is expected to begin in September 2004.

“Our goal is to provide all large academic libraries in our region with ALEPH 500 systems,” says Pavel Krbec, Ex Libris distributor for the Czech and Slovak Republics. “The installation at the Czech Technical University is a step of the utmost importance in this direction. It follows installations at Charles University in Prague, the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, University of Economics at Prague, Masaryk University in Brno, and the Brno University of Technology”.
