University of North Carolina, Greensboro picks Sirsi

ORLANDO, Fla.—June 28, 2004— Sirsi Corporation, celebrating 25 years of delivering technology "firsts" to the library community, announced today that the Jackson Library of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) has selected Sirsi technology to provide the best overall functionality available in an integrated library system. "We compared four systems and Sirsi offered the best overall functionality," said Tim Bucknall, assistant director for Information Technology and Electronic Resources. "We believe that Sirsi will enable us to customize our public interface to best serve the needs of our users."

UNCG's suite of Sirsi products and services will include Unicorn® Library Management System, Sirsi Director's Station, iLink Online Scholar's Portal, WorkFlows® staff interface, SmartPort Z39.50 Copy Cataloging Client, Sirsi 9XX Order Interface for Acquisitions, and Sirsi API (application program interface).

"Jackson Library is the leading public research library in the Triad area, with more than 1 million bound volumes and over 2.8 million items," said Doris Hulbert, university librarian. "It provides significant and unique research collections to serve the needs of scholars at UNCG and beyond, including the University Archives, the Women Veterans Historical Collection, the Woman's Collection, and the world's largest cello music and manuscript collection. Sirsi can help the Library make these collections more accessible for scholarship and research."
