Blacksburg, VA – Moving rapidly in identifying, adopting and integrating leading technological solutions for their customers, VTLS Inc. announced today a new partnership with onShore Development, Inc. to use their browser based media booking product with the VIRTUA ILS product.
WebCheckout is a comprehensive resource management and scheduling system specifically designed to address the gamut of institutional resource management. Whether it is equipment, facilities, personnel, or media titles, WebCheckout tracks and maintains information on purchase, repair and maintenance, utilization, and above all, scheduling. It is comprised of several modules, which extend the base product, yet share the underlying core data. The Help Desk and Repair, Billing and Media Booking Modules all provide specialized handling of these resources and functions, while maintaining tight integration to the WebCheckout scheduling database. Its powerful reporting capabilities provide insight into resource usage that helps with planning, forecasting, and budgeting. WebCheckout is fully browser-based and requires no special software to be installed and maintained on client workstations. It can be accessed from anywhere and works on all major platforms. The product is already in use at major universities across the United States ranging from colleges to ARL institutions.
“Media booking always provides a real challenge to ILS providers because of its complexity and unique processes” said Carl Grant, President and COO of VTLS, “We looked at the option of developing our own module, as many of our competitors do, and found that the level of effort required to do this task and do it well pointed towards finding a partner that was focused on providing a superior solution. We have found that partner in onShore Development. We're very excited about the integration of this product with VIRTUA and feel certain the result will be pleasing to our customers.”
The WebCheckout Media Booking Module was first developed for the University of Michigan's Film and Video libraries, which rank among the largest collections of its kind in North America. “We are pleased to offer WebCheckout's Media Booking capabilities as a tightly integrated solution to existing and prospective VIRTUA customers. It allows us to focus exclusively on staying well ahead of the technology curve on media scheduling processes, which is what we do best”, says Eric Dodson, President and CEO of onShore Development. “Our biggest challenge with the Media Booking Module has been presenting it to libraries as a third party afterthought to their existing ILS. Having VTLS as a partner eliminates this problem, thus positioning WebCheckout to compete with other booking systems on features and technology where we are strongest”, adds Daniel Pyne, Vice President of Sales for onShore Development.
