Spain's Universidad de Jaén selects Millennium, joins Innovative-powered consortium

Emeryville, CA— Innovative Interfaces, the world's leading provider of Web-powered, Java-based automated library systems, announced today that Spain's Universidad de Jaén has selected Millennium as its next-generation integrated library system. In addition, the University has agreed to join the Andalucian Library Consortium. The Consortium is currently implementing INN-Reach, Innovative's resource-sharing product. Jaén's selection of Millennium means that nine of ten of the libraries in the group will run Innovative systems. They are the Universities of Sevilla, Cádiz, Granada, Málaga, Córdoba, Huelva, Almería, and Pablo de Olavide.

Why Millennium?

Two factors drove Universitaria de Jaén's decision. “The need for latest-generation technology, functionality, and features was crucial,” says Sebastián Jarillo Calvario, Director of Library and Archive Services. “In addition, Innovative's track record in both the United States and southern Europe, especially in the Andalucian Library Consortium, also impressed us.”

Since its founding in 1994, the Biblioteca Universitaria de Jaén has provided the essential service of supporting teaching and research, while enhancing the campus environment. Jaén's library serves nearly 16,000 patrons at two sites and holds over 200,000 volumes.
