Press Release: Dynix [June 03, 2004]

Three More Dynix ILS Customers select Horizon

PROVO, Utah – June 3, 2004 – Dynix, the world's leading provider of automation technologies, solutions, and services for libraries, announced today that Lake County Library System (Tavares, FL), Wasatch County Library (Heber, UT), and Havre-Hill County Library (Havre, MT) have selected the Horizon Information Management System as they move from current Dynix ILS deployments to next-generation systems.

Lake County Library System consists of twelve libraries, including the largest library in Lake County, Florida. The system's annual circulation exceeds 1,360,000 items from a collection size of 500,000, serving a population of 220,000 people.

“We feel Horizon is the best system for us. The state of technology was really pushing us to move forward, and we trust Dynix as our automation vendor,” said Charlene Smith, Assistant Library Services Director. “Dynix has served us very well since 1994, but we are looking forward to the additional features and benefits of Horizon.”

Wasatch County Library, a Dynix ILS customer for the past eight years, moved to a new facility in May 2004, tripling its size. “We had a number of companies approach us to supply the system for our new building, but when we looked into Horizon and saw its customizability and the features it will give to patrons and staff, there was no reason for us to move to another vendor,” said Library Director Kristin Bowcutt. ”We have had excellent support from Dynix over the years, and that was another reason why we selected Horizon.”

Wasatch County serves a population of 16,000 and has a collection of 35,000 items. “Our users are going to love all the patron empowerment features the new Horizon Information Portal offers,” Bowcutt said. “We are excited that we can so easily customize it to match our new look and that it provides expanded levels of searching and power to our staff and patrons.”

Havre-Hill County Library, a Dynix customer since 1997, maintains the Hi-Land Shared System, consisting of five public and five school libraries stretched out across 100 miles of Northern Montana. The library maintains a collection of 200,000 items and serves a population of 27,000, consisting of students, ranchers, farmers, and two Indian reservations.

“We have always been very happy with Dynix and wanted to move to the latest state-of-the-art automation system,” said Director Bonnie Williamson. “Its pull-down menus and graphical user interface make Horizon so much more user friendly and powerful for our patrons and staff.”

“All three of these customers are very important to Dynix. Not only are we pleased to be continuing our successful relationships with them, but each has significant meaning for the company,” said Jim Wilson, Dynix Founder and Senior Library Consultant. “Lake County's move to Horizon represents our rapidly growing share of the Florida library market, while Wasatch County Library is one of our very important home base libraries in Utah. The migration of Havre-Hill County Library shows the strong momentum of our customer sales in the western United States.”
