Emeryville, CA—Innovative Interfaces, the world's leading provider of Web-powered, Java-based automated library systems, announced today that the prestigious business school, Universita Commerciale Luigi Bocconi in Milan, Italy, has selected Millennium, including the Electronic Resource Management module, for its new integrated library system. It will replace their current Ex Libris system.
Luigi Bocconi founded this private university in 1902 and it has gone on to earn a prestigious reputation, making significant contributions to international research on business and management. The library is Italy's most prominent in the fields of social science and economics. "The Library offers support to the economics faculty and to the business school,” says Library Director Marisa Santarsiero. “Because the University has a strong commitment to the use of technology, Millennium gives us a firm basis for progressive and innovative services.”
Universita Commerciale Luigi Bocconi chose Innovative products for a number of reasons:
- Millennium modules operate together in an integrated fashion;
- The Web OPAC simplifies the searching process;
- Staff can easily generate detailed reports; and
- Electronic Resource Management will give staff and users increased knowledge and control of subscription databases.
Furthermore, “Millennium's features and flexibility will bolster Bocconi Library's commitment to maintain a wide range of customer-oriented services," says Santarsiero.
At present, the University provides 1,500 work and study opportunities for international students every year. The focal point of Bocconi's development initiative is the broadening of its international horizons, by teaching two degree programs entirely in English and building on existing partnerships with 110 universities worldwide.
“The Universita Commerciale Luigi Bocconi is a first-rate institution,” says Maryvonne Enjolras, Director of Sales for Southern Europe. “We are pleased to see the University join the growing ranks of innovative libraries in Europe.”
