Sirsi opens new eStore

ST. LOUIS—April 18, 2004—Sirsi Corporation, celebrating 25 years of delivering technology “firsts” to the library community, announced today the opening of the new Sirsi eStore available through the Client Care section of www.sirsi.com. The new online buying center will enable Sirsi users to purchase best-of-breed third-party products and select Sirsi products and services more directly and efficiently than ever before. Purchases can be made easily through secure online credit card transactions. While additional products will be offered through the new Sirsi eStore in the future, a number of products are now available for purchase.

“Numerous third-party vendors provide barcodes, labels, self-checkout units, and other peripherals that Sirsi users rely on for use with their systems,” said Sirsi's Tom Gates, director of marketing. “To keep the list of vendors and offerings up-to-date and to provide our clients with easy and direct access to purchase these items, Sirsi has developed the Sirsi eStore.”

A highlight of the new eStore is the Sirsi Authorized Vendors Program, through which Sirsi ensures that its clients can purchase authorized third-party peripherals to work with Sirsi systems. Through the Sirsi eStore, Sirsi users can directly link to third-party vendors' Web sites, where direct online purchases can be made. The first Sirsi Authorized Vendors whose products are made available through the Sirsi eStore are Budget Library Supplies, Watson Labels, and AbeTech. Additional Sirsi Authorized Vendors will follow.

“The next phase of the Sirsi eStore will see our making other Sirsi products and services available for purchase, including training classes and workshops, additional WorkFlows® or SmartPort client licenses, or entire Unicorn® modules,” said Gates. The eStore will offer easy online registration for training classes and professional workshops offered by Sirsi – including detailed information on classes, dates, locations, and availability. “The eStore will allow real-time pre-authorization for credit card payments, ensuring a paperless system for training and workshop registration.”

Continued Gates, “Providing more ways to give our clients easer access to the resources they need is Sirsi's priority. Along with our groundbreaking SIP2 Certification Program and NCIP Certification Program, the new Sirsi Authorized Vendor Program and the entire Sirsi eStore are additional steps we are taking to make sure that our clients have easy, reliable access to all the solutions they need for effectively running their operations.”
