St. Mark's School of Texas chooses Dynix over Sirsi and TLC

PROVO, Utah – April 15, 2004 – Dynix, the world's leading provider of automation technologies, solutions, and services for libraries, announced today that St. Mark's School of Texas, a Dynix customer since 1995, has selected the Horizon Information Management System to replace its Dynix ILS system. St. Mark's will run Horizon as an ASP solution.

Over the last two years, St. Mark's has engaged in a thorough search for a new system, analyzing different solutions and soliciting input from colleagues who had upgraded their Dynix systems. “We really wanted to know what their experience was like in either upgrading to Horizon or moving to another vendor,” said Library Director Polly Gilbert. “We wanted to know how they are functioning at this time.”

Based on preliminary research, the library narrowed its search to three vendors: Dynix, Sirsi, and TLC. “In the end, the main reason we selected Dynix was the integrity of both the company and the software, along with the relationship we have with the people at the company,” Gilbert said. “Dynix was also the only company with a proven track record with ASP, with many customers running great. They were the only vendor who could offer ASP as a viable solution.”

“We feel that the company has really returned to the heart of caring and providing leading services for small libraries,” Gilbert said. “We are a small fish in comparison to many Dynix customers, but our students want the best in technology and library services, and we feel our size should not limit the support, attention, and superior technology we need and that we will get from Dynix. Our staff is looking forward to using the Horizon authority control, which is the best of any of the other systems.”
