Ex Libris and Bond University -- imagineering the future together

Ex Libris (Australia) is pleased to announce that Bond University has chosen ALEPH 500™ for its university library becoming the 28th Australian academic institution to use Ex Libris' products. The Bond University library collection includes over 235,000 volumes and 1,800 journal titles in print, as well as hundreds of DVDs, laserdiscs, CD ROMs, video and audio cassettes. Access is provided to over 22,000 full-text electronic journals, and over 100 journal databases.

“Aleph 500 will be one of the critical systems for delivering quality library services to the Bond University community,” says Gulcin Cribb, Library Director at Bond University. “The criteria for selecting this product were its focus on the requirements of academic libraries and its development path to meet future needs. We are looking forward to a productive partnership with Ex Libris and are currently considering implementation of SFX® and MetaLib® in the near future.”

Bond University has carried out an extensive search for the perfect ILS product as was eloquently described by Joanna Richardson and Peta Hopkins of Bond University Library in their paper entitled “Selecting an ILMS for a Future You Can't Imagine”, presented at the VALA 2004 Conference held in Melbourne Australia in February. “In her paper delivered at VALA, Dr. Richardson explains that ‘the selection of a responsive vendor with vision and the capability to sustain research and development will position the library optimally for an unpredictable future', we are honored to be the vendor that Bond University was searching for and expect to fulfill all of their unforeseen needs,” says Claudette Pope Managing Director of Ex Libris (Australia).
