Emeryville, CA — Innovative Interfaces, the world's leading provider of Web-powered, Java-based automated library systems, announced today that the University of Valencia in Spain has chosen to install the Millennium library automation system with an Oracle database. This will replace their Dobis Libis system.
“The University of Valencia chose Millennium as its new ILS for several reasons,” noted Victoria Garcia Esteve, Library Technical Director at the University of Valencia. “Millennium supports all of the major standards in the world of libraries and documentation; the system provides a high level of management reports thanks to its report generators; and the Web OPAC is of the highest quality—intuitive and easy to use. Millennium fulfills all the functional requirements needed by the University—thus simplifying the technical and administrative tasks that are required. Lastly, we chose Millennium because we were greatly impressed with Innovative's large installed customer base in Spain, as well as elsewhere in Europe and the United States.”
The University of Valencia was founded in 1499 and currently serves 50,000 students. The University's Library Information Service integrates all of the collections at the university, amounting to approximately 1,200,000 volumes. The Historical Library, with 100,000 volumes, specializes in historic collections from manuscripts and incunabula to documents from the Spanish Civil War and includes not only codices, rare documents, plays, and historic press, but also stamps, engravings, posters, maps, and drawings.
“Innovative is very pleased to be partnering with the University of Valencia, one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Spain,” said Maryvonne Enjolras, Innovative's Director of Sales for Southern Europe. “By installing Millennium, the University of Valencia's users will have greater access to information and resources, with the Web OPAC available in three languages: Valencian, Spanish and English. ”
