La Vergne, TN — April 9, 2003 — Ingram Library customers can now order and receive materials for their patrons much faster and easier with electronic ordering and invoicing through Sirsi's Unicorn® Library Management System.
"Our mission is to provide busy library personnel with convenient, accurate, and efficient methods to place and receive orders," said Larry Price, Executive Vice President for Ingram Library Services Inc. "We are very excited about the Sirsi Solution."
Sirsi Unicorn users will access the latest Unicorn release (2002.0.16) to place electronic orders directly to Ingram via FTP using X12, a current book-industry standard.
"This new interface will allow Sirsi customers to enjoy both time-savings and best-of-breed technology," said Sirsi Vice President of Product Management, Berit Nelson. "We are delighted to continue to deliver ease-of-use via support for standards that our customers demand."
The electronic invoicing option serves to dramatically reduce invoice-processing time and increase the timeliness and accuracy of fund accounting. Matching and verification of order to invoice records is automatic. Librarians need only review, modify if needed, and then approve for automatic posting.
"Using X12 means we do not have to manually create Ingram invoices in the Sirsi system which involves line-by-line data entry," says Scott Thomas, head of information technologies for Scranton Public Library and beta tester for this enhancement. "This saves us literally hours every week in staff time."
