TLC's growing school division adds four new school districts

INWOOD, WV— October 15, 2002 – Four school districts have recently chosen SchoolLibrary.Solution, TLC's district-wide, centralized automation system.

Two of the four school districts will upgrade to SchoolLibrary.Solution from the epixtech Dynix system: Academy School District Twenty in Colorado Springs and Phoenix Union High School District in Arizona. Academy School District will use SchoolLibrary.Solution in its 24 schools, while Phoenix will use it at 11 sites. Phoenix Union is the fourth largest high school district in the nation, with over 21,000 students.

Silver Consolidated Schools in Silver City, New Mexico will upgrade to SchoolLibrary.Solution from a site-based automation system. According to Silver Consolidated Director Dottie Pfeifer, her school district changed to a centralized system because "it is very difficult to work with old site-based DOS systems. We should be able to troubleshoot a problem at one school without having to actually travel to that site. Our staff and students are truly ready for a networked Windows and Internet-based system."

Silver Consolidated Schools chose SchoolLibrary.Solution because “…the handling of new books at each site is easier. The ability to adapt each school site home page is great. The ability of the office at the high school to list fines for uniforms, etc. and to print receipts was the deciding factor,” Ms. Pfeifer said.

She added: “TLC sends representatives to demonstrate the program and answer different people's questions. They provided places for us to go look at the program and best of all, have bent over backwards to fix any roadblocks that our administrator has thrown at them.”

Howard County Public School System in Maryland implemented SchoolLibrary.Solution in 48 schools in August, adding to the 20 Howard County schools already using the system. Howard County Public School System has 68 public schools and a collection of over 850,000 items.

Staff at Howard County originally chose the system because of its efficiency in the delivery of materials to the district's schools, the ease of its Windows-based environment, its provision of a union catalog and customized report creation, and TLC's outstanding support.

These school districts join the growing list of districts that have chosen TLC's SchoolLibrary.Solution for centralized automation, including School Board of Broward County, FL. (232 schools); Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Annapolis, Md. (120 schools); Chesterfield County Public Schools, VA. (58 schools); Terrebonne Parish School Board, LA. (38); Waterloo Catholic School Board, ON (55 schools); and, Cambridge Public Schools, MA. (15 schools).
