(Clarivate Analytics) Clarivate Analytics announced that it has acquired the business of SequenceBase, a leader in providing patent sequence information and search technology to the biotech, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The acquisition will deliver an expanded solution to the fast-growing biologics market. It complements Derwent’s GENESEQ database and leading patent research platform Derwent Innovation, providing users with an intuitive solution to easily search, analyze and find context in sequence data within patents. GENESEQ is a proprietary database trusted by the largest players in biologics today. It is the only database to provide annotated analysis to help simplify the complexity of searching and identifying biological sequences (DNA, RNA and protein sequences) covered in patents from over 50 patent issuing authorities.

(ProQuest) ProQuest and Atairos, an independent private company focused on supporting growth-oriented businesses, announced that Atairos will acquire an ownership position in ProQuest. ProQuest will use the proceeds from the transaction to repurchase most of the shares owned by entities affiliated with the Merchant Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, which will retain a minority interest in the Company. Cambridge Information Group will maintain its majority ownership of ProQuest. CIG has been the majority owner of ProQuest since 2007, overseeing a period of growth through new product innovation and strategic acquisitions that have helped ProQuest customers respond to changing environments.

The transaction is expected to close on or around May 31, 2019, subject to customary closing and regulatory condition. Knewton has developed an advanced learning system demonstrated to deliver highly-personalized learning experiences that drive superior outcomes. The Company’s Alta courseware platform delivers high-quality, Open Educational Resource (OER) content to more than 300 colleges and universities, with course offerings in key subject areas, including math, chemistry and economics. The acquisition of the Alta platform, combined with Wiley’s reach, will accelerate Wiley’s position in the rapidly-growing, affordable courseware market.
