(Virginia Tech University) Representatives from the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth University, George Mason University, Old Dominion University, William and Mary, and James Madison University will soon be in contract negotiations with Elsevier, the largest science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) scholarly publisher. Working as a group, they will be discussing the unsustainable cost of accessing Elsevier's academic journals and options to make their public universities' research more accessible to the public that paid for it.

(ProQuest) Librarians can now acquire titles from a collection of more than 19,000 sought-after Brill ebooks through the OASIS and Rialto marketplaces.

(Ex Libris) Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, announced the selection and launch of the Ex Libris campusM mobile platform by the University of Hong Kong Libraries. The first in Hong Kong to adopt the platform, HKUL has already rolled out its new mobile app and web portal which is built on the campusM platform.

(Softlink International) Softlink Information Centres is thrilled to be attending the CIL and IL Connect 2020.

(Springshare) Springshare announced Pickup Manager - a new LibApps tool designed to help libraries improve workflows around the pickup of library holds. The Pickup Manager combines Springhare's scheduling and communication features and fully integrates them with the integrated library systems holds functionality. The end result is an affordable and user-friendly pickup management platform.

(University of Texas) The University of Texas System has joined the Texas Library Coalition for United Action (TLCUA) to rethink how university libraries collectively can improve access to faculty research and to push for changes to the costly subscription models offered by publishers of academic journals. A total of 41 institutions in Texas have now joined the Coalition – including the 14 UT institutions – making it the largest and most diverse consortia of its kind and giving it significant negotiating power.

(SirsiDynix) Pasadena Public Library has selected SirsiDynix as their Integrated Library System (ILS) partner. Believing in the power libraries have to uplift and enrich their communities, SirsiDynix is honored to provide services and support for Pasadena Public Library.

(Ex Libris) Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, announced that Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) (São Paulo State University) has selected the Ex Libris Alma library services platform to unify the management of its physical and electronic library collections and provide seamless access to the digital collection, an aggregate of more than three million items. For the 34 member libraries, the Alma platform will replace the Ex Libris Aleph system, which has served the institution for more than two decades. Unesp is the first Brazilian university to implement Alma cloud services.

Ed Tech JPA provides all California educational agencies with the opportunity to leverage competitively-priced digital technology contracts, while saving time and ensuring that data privacy and public procurement laws are followed.

(ProQuest) As Californians begin a school year like no other, access to authoritative databases for teaching and learning is critical. Through the California K-12 Online Content Project, managed by the California State Library, all public school districts and charter schools in the state get unlimited access to a wealth of ProQuest and other resources for the duration of the 2020-21 school year. These resources – made available since 2018 through schools – will also now be available through public libraries across the state.

(Overdrive) Readers nationwide are actively borrowing and discussing the next Libraries Transform Book Pick, the annual digital reading event that makes a featured ebook immediately available for free from public libraries. From September 14th to 28th, booklovers across the U.S. can borrow – without waitlists or holds – an ebook copy of the ambitious and masterfully wrought saga Book of the Little Axe by Lauren Francis-Sharma. With the award-winning Libby app and a valid library card, readers can download and read the ebook, then discuss via social media.
