BiblioCommons BiblioCommons launches integrated catalog and website management platform in partnership with Chicago Public Library. BiblioCommons announces a new integrated catalog and website management platform built in partnership with Chicago Public Library. Funded with an investment from the Chicago Public Library Foundation, the new Chicago Public Library website launched officially on April 9, and provides library patrons with an integrated and engaging user experience as they browse their library’s collections, services, locations, and events. The new website management platform, BiblioCMS, is built to address a key issue for public libraries: while libraries offer an impressive array of programs, services and collections, the overwhelming majority of library patrons are largely unaware of what is available. This challenge was highlighted by the Pew Research Center in its March 2014 report, “From Distant Admirers to Library Lovers: A typology of public library engagement in America.” Only 23% of those who have used public libraries reported knowing "all or most" of programs offered by libraries. The Library Corporation Chicago Public Library Awards next-generation ILS contract to The Library Corporation. Chicago Public Library has selected The Library Corporation to integrate and install its next generation library system, a project valued at over $13.8 million. The Next Generation Library System will be built on the CARL.X open technology foundation. CARL.X is the result of a multi-year re-engineering project based on TLC’s CARL.Solution.
