(EBSCO Information Services) Canton Public Library in Michigan was today announced the winner for the first-ever LibraryAware Community Award with Skokie Public Library in Illinois taking second place and Hartford Public Library in Connecticut taking third place. The LibraryAware Community Award recognizes cities and towns and their libraries, or library systems, that have demonstrated their ability to make the community aware of what the library can do for them—and have delivered on that promise. The award is given by Library Journal and underwritten by LibraryAware, a product of the NoveList division of EBSCO.

January 20, 2003

(Polaris Library Systems) Gaylord Information Systems announced that four more libraries have signed agreements to install the Polaris integrated library system. The libraries -- North Canton Public Library (Ohio), Keokuk Public Library (Iowa), Eastern Arizona College Library (Arizona), and the New Mexico Military Institute (New Mexico) -- are all upgrading to Polaris from GALAXY.

(Checkpoint Systems, Inc.) Checkpoint Systems, Inc. has received contracts for its Intelligent Library System (ILS) from more than 20 libraries, some of whom were using 3M''s electromagnetic EAS systems.

(Checkpoint Systems, Inc.) Checkpoint Systems, Inc. announced that it has been awarded a contract to install its Intelligent Library System at the Canton Public Library in the Detroit suburb of Canton, Michigan. The library previously used a competing system but chose to upgrade to Checkpoint''s leading-edge library RFID technology.

(Checkpoint Systems, Inc.) A questionnaire given to 20,000 randomly selected job applicants revealed that 22.6% of the applicants were "high risk" as defined by their admissions of prior dishonest acts or wrongdoings and/or their attitudes concerning honesty.
