collectionHQ. collectionHQ and SOLUS announce joint initiative. collectionHQ, the world's leading collection performance improvement solution and SOLUS, a global library technology provider, announced a new joint initiative to support collection management in public libraries. The joint initiative surrounds the launch of SOLUS' Gizmo mobile device and the compatibility of collectionHQ Action Plans with the SOLUS Staff App. Gizmo, an Android-powered handheld tool, supports the SOLUS Staff App to allow librarians to deliver better customer service by responding to patron queries, searching the collection and placing hold requests all from the library floor. The compatibility of collectionHQ Action Plans with Gizmo via the Staff App takes that portability one step further by allowing users to carry out multiple collection management tasks simultaneously from anywhere in the library. From Gizmo, users can then update item statuses and locations directly to their Integrated Library System, saving valuable staff time. [Full Announcement].

Civica announced the latest version of the collectionHQ interface which further enables libraries to manage and evaluate their collections. The new features include new fields for 65X subject areas for more in-depth analysis of your subject areas, series information that conform to the new RDA practices, Edition, Publication Dates, Added author, and Corporate author, as well as holds/reservations data to activate collectionHQ’s Holds Reporting Tools. With company headquarters in Glasgow, Scotland, collectionHQ originally launched into the United Kingdom and Ireland where the solution is now used in over 50% of public libraries. The addition of these tools, called the ebook module, means that for the first time, librarians can easily access data that compare ebook and print holdings.
