University of Oklahoma. OU Libraries Creates registry for artificial intelligence research. The University of Oklahoma Libraries invites higher education institutions to share their artificial intelligence (AI) projects in a new online registry. Projects in Artificial Intelligence Registry (PAIR), is an online database to support collaboration and grant funding across higher education insitutions exploring AI research. [Full Announcement].

University of Oklahoma. Oculus VR donates equipment to the University of Oklahoma Libraries. The University of Oklahoma Libraries announced that Oculus VR has donated a gift of 10 Oculus Rifts and Touch controllers to the University of Oklahoma Libraries. These units are the latest versions of the equipment already widely used across the OU campus. The gift is designed to further foster education, research, knowledge sharing and discussion related to virtual and augmented reality and its application in academic and research settings. University of Oklahoma. University of Oklahoma Libraries part of team winning a $95K IMLS grant. The University of Oklahoma Libraries is among a team of three universities, led by Nathan Hall, associate director of digital imaging and preservation services at Virginia Tech University Libraries, that has been awarded an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) National Leadership Grant in support of 3D visualization and virtual reality (VR) technologies. University of Oklahoma. University of Oklahoma Libraries conducts first multi-state, multi-campus, curated VR class. The University of Oklahoma Libraries announced that they’ve conducted what is believed to be the first multi-state, multi-campus, curated virtual reality class. The Innovation @ the Edge, located in the University of Oklahoma Libraries, is a pioneer in developing pedagogical and research content for virtual reality headsets. During this VR class, partner institutions, including two separate physical locations at University of Central Oklahoma, Archaeology Southwest and University of Arizona, Tucson and two separate physical locations at the University of Oklahoma along with a session leader in a home office, connected in shared virtual reality space, bringing together 15 people total in order to tour a cave with rare archaic cave art that is located on private land and is otherwise inaccessible to the public. University of Oklahoma. OU Libraries initiative saves students more than $1.6M. The University of Oklahoma Libraries-funded open educational resources initiative, the Alternative Textbook Grant, has saved OU students $1,631,935 in textbook costs to date. Now in its fourth year, the Alternative Textbook Grant was established to reduce students’ textbook costs by supporting OU faculty members in the adoption, modification or creation of Open Educational Resources (OER) – which include teaching, learning and research resources that are free of cost to use and repurpose – as well as affordable course content. University of Oklahoma. University of Oklahoma Libraries receives national recognition as Education Futurist. The University of Oklahoma Libraries has been recognized nationally as a recipient of the 2017 Campus Technology Impact Award, which recognizes colleges and universities that are making an extraordinary impact with technology on campus. OU Libraries received recognition in the category of “Education Futurists” for its Innovation @ the Edge project – a leading innovation and maker space within the Bizzell Memorial Library. OU was one of only ten institutions selected nationally from nominations across the nation and one of only two honored with the “Education Futurists” Award. [Full Announcement].

University of Oklahoma. OU Libraries Selected for Top National Honors. The University of Oklahoma is being honored nationally with the Campus Technology Innovators Award. OU is one of only two universities nationwide selected as an “education futurist” for development of the OU Libraries’ NavApp and one of only 11 universities in the nation to be recognized as a leading organization in innovation.
